Its main purpose is to gain mid-span access to fiber optic conductors by slitting the outer jacket or jacket and armor on the above cables. The tool is designed with a precision adjustable blade to avoid damage to the fibers. The tool works on a cable diameter rage of 0.315 in – 1.125 in (8 mm – 28.6 mm). The blade can be set up to 0.217 in (5.5 mm) deep.
